Dr. Lynne Goldstein

Lynne Goldstein is a Professor of Anthropology at MSU, where she has been since 1996, and the creator of the Campus Archaeology Program. She recently completed her term as Chairperson of the Department of Anthropology in 2006 and as the editor of American Antiquity, the journal published by the Society for American Archaeology. Currently, she teaches a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses, and serves as the Adjunct Curator of Anthropology at the MSU Museum. Lynne previously worked at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and much of her research focuses on Wisconsin and the Great Lakes region, particularly on mortuary analysis. She earned her PhD from Northwestern University in 1976. Visit her anthropology profile here.

Terry Brock

Terry Brock is a 3rd year PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology at MSU. A local of East Lansing, Terry has been a part of archaeology at MSU since his field school in 2005 at Saints’ Rest. He also has field experience in Rome, Italy and, most recently, in Southern Maryland. His research interest is in studies of the African Diaspora, particularly in Southern Maryland, where he has been working for the past few summers at Historic St. Mary’s City.

The role of Campus Archaeologist is a part-time position; Terry focuses on the day-to-day of archaeological operations, including meetings with members of Physical Plant about construction plans, directing and coordinating archaeological and historical research, monitoring construction projects, final project reports, and taking part in outreach programming. Grace Krause

A first year graduate student in the Department of Anthropology, Grace is working this year with the Campus Archaeology Program doing research on a yet-to-be-determined project.

Joann Wallace

A first year graduate student, Joann will be working on developing a predictive site model for prehistoric sites on MSU’s campus.

This Fall, we have three interns. Jen Allen is a Senior Anthropology and History Major. Jeff Gepper is a Senior Anthropology Major. Dave Lewandowski is a Senior Anthropology Major. They will all be maintaining a blog this semester, detailing their special projects.
