Central Academic District

Sensitivity: High - contact Campus Archaeology before proceeding with any projects

Description
: The Central Academic District holds a variety of interesting aspects to the history of MAC. It holds one of the few areas, People’s Park, where buildings have been torn down and replaced with green space, allowing for the potential for intact foundations and archaeological deposits. This space also was the earliest location of the campus expansion South of the river. Also, there is the potential for locating 19th century farmhouses that may have been a part of the landscape prior to MSU’s southern expansion. Lastly, the potential for prehistoric material is great due to the location near the river.
